Participants of Bambute Livelihood Training showcasing their outputs together with Floridablanca MSWDO Head Edelyn Lobo and guest speakers.

With the aim of upgrading the knowledge and skills of  the Floridablanca Association of Persons with Disabilities (FAPWD) in bambute or bamboo handicraft making, the DOST-3 through its Expanded Implementation of Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (eCEST) program together with LGU-Floridablanca organized a three-day training last June 13-15, 2019 at the Floridablanca Municipal Training Center. The training was attended by thirteen (13) members of FAPWD and staff of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) where they were taught by Mark Dean Ayson, Belinda Alafriz and Gilbert Garcia on making home decors and accessories made out of bamboo and recyclable materials.

In addition, the FAPWD was also provided with materials, tools, and equipment to enable them to start their operation. MSWDO Head, Ms. Edelyn Lobo, together with Mr. Edwin Nuguid of the PDAO, expressed their utmost gratitude to DOST-3 for providing assistance to the project which will surely improve the living standards of the PWDs in the municipality. PSTC-Pampanga will be monitoring the project to ensure sustainability of the startup livelihood enterprise.
