Members of St. Martha Smile Healthy Kitchen together with Ms. Alicia D. Mendoza (PESO-Bocaue), PSTC-Bulacan Director Angelita Q. Parungao, and Hon. Mayor Eleanor J. Villanueva-Tugna
As part of the “Expanded Implementation of CEST (eCEST) in Bocaue, Bulacan”, the DOST III together with LGU-Bocaue led the official turn-over of livelihood equipment to the members of St. Martha Smile Healthy Kitchen last September 23, 2019 at Brgy. Igulot, Bocaue, Bulacan. The said group was awarded with a package of food processing equipment through the assistance of the Provincial Science and Technology Director for Bulacan, Ms. Angelita Q. Parungao.
Most of the members of this group attended the training conducted by Ms. Parungao last 2014 about food processing. As shared by Ms. Parungao during the turn-over ceremonies, “Ang ibang members po ng grupo ay naturuan ko sa paggawa ng banana chips, crispy dilis, kutsinta, puto, at maja blanca. Umaasa po ako na with the assistance of LGU-Bocaue ay magamit at makatulong ang mga kagamitan na ito mula sa ating gobyerno”. She also highlighted that one of the objectives of the project is to financially empower the women to support their families.
LGU-Bocaue also expressed its gratitude through the hardworking Mayor, Hon. Eleanor J. Villanueva-Tugna. “Ako po ay nagpapasalamat sa DOST III dahil isa na naman pong biyaya ang matatanggap ng ating bayan. Naaalala ko po na dati ay pirmahan lang, ngunit ngayon po ay totoong nandito na sa ating harapan ang mga kagamitan kaya’t nawa po ay gamitin ito ng grupo para sa dagdag nilang pagkakakitaan”.
With the provision of equipment to establish their food processing facility, the group is now ready to produce healthy food products for the people in the municipality of Bocaue.
