A total of three (3) schools in Maria Aurora, Aurora were provided with Multimedia Interactive Learning Module under the Upgrading of Schools for Indigenous People Community in Far-Flung Areas Project of the Expanded Implementation of Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (e-CEST) Program. This project aims to boost the knowledge and interest of IP students in all subjects but mainly focused in science and math. The conduct of simulation in laboratory subjects and student research are facilitated with the help of easy to access illustrations and photographs, sound/video clips, as well as large amounts of text and interactive multimedia programs present learning information to teachers and students in a newly engaging and expressive ways. Interactive multimedia can be a powerful learning and teaching tool because it involves multiple senses. Students using multimedia are reading, seeing, hearing and actively manipulating the materials. The integration of multimedia programs into classroom exercises promise not only to change the kind of information that is available for learning, but also the way that learning takes place. The students are likewise provided the flexibility to study anytime and anywhere they want. Teachers can manage classes more effectively with this technology. The project is also designed to encourage more students to take up a STEM strand curriculum.

This project was in accordance with the objective of DOST-CEST to empower disadvantaged communities to alleviate poverty through Science and Technology interventions in the area of education. The P458,080.00 worth of multimedia equipment was awarded to the school beneficiaries namely; Dianawan National High School with 61 IP students, Francisco Q. Dagyapen Memorial Elementary School with 103 IP pupils and Dimotol Elementary School with 64 IP pupils who will benefit from this project.

The orientation and turn over ceremonies of the Multimedia Interactive Learning Modules for students and teachers were organized by the Provincial Science and Technology Center of Aurora in coordination with the school-beneficiaries and conducted by the developer, the Frontlearners Inc., on March 9-10, 2020 at Maria Aurora, Aurora.
