Strengthening the INNOVATION system of our country is the main focus of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP). It provides technological interventions to improve productivity and efficiency of the enterprises.
In early 3rd quarter of the year, the DOST3 approved the SETUP project proposal entitled: “Upgrading the Processing Capabilities of Oral Educational Distributor thru the Adoption of Appropriate Technologies”. Through the SETUP Innovation Enabling Fund (iFUND), this tools and equipment fabricator in Apalit, Pampanga will be able to acquire various metal fabrication machines amounting to PhP 3 million in order to fast track mass production of its inventions such that it may reach the target Filipino communities and be relevant in the time of pandemic. The set of S&T interventions consist of 1 unit each of Hydraulic Shearing Machine, Die Molds (for Tray and Frame), Spot Welding Machine, and Drill Press Machine.
The SETUP Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) facilitated a virtual orientation and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the proponent, Mr. Francisco O. Pagayon, an Inventor-Entrepreneur. Mr. Pagayon is a known inventor who possess skills of both inventor and entrepreneur and has the uncanny ability to turn an idea into a business. His active presence in the Filipino Inventors Society Producers Cooperative (FISPC), an organization recognized by R.A. 7459 Inventors and Invention Incentives Act catapulted him to his current position as President of the Cooperative. To date, part of the SETUP project interventions was already procured and upon the completion of the delivery of the equipment and molds, the firm-beneficiary is expected to increase its sales by 75% due to improvement in productivity and efficiency. Truly, in Central Luzon, we give earnest effort to help entrepreneurs push sustainable growth and prosperity.
