A multi-agency approach to help Aeta rebel returnees reintegrate themselves back to the community was recently launched in San Marcelino, Zambales. Led by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provincial office, the project aims to provide livelihood through the provision of training and supplies for vegetable and free range chicken production under its Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology program.
The Aeta community is in Sitio Lumibao in Brgy. Buhawen here. Through this project, they will have access to sustainable source of food and livelihood opportunities.
Other agencies involved in the project are: the President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) which will provide technology training, consultancy and training materials to the beneficiaries; PNP-Zambales which will ensure the safety of the project implementers during the visits in the area; LGU-San Marcelino and BLGU-Buhawen which will provide assistance during the conduct of implementation. Mr. Marcelo Balario, Sitio Lumibao’s Chieftain and Ms. Liza Balario, Barangay’s Indigenous Person Mandatory Representative (IPMR) expressed their gratitude for the assistance extended to them.
A ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement among PRMSU, PNP-Zambales, LGU San Marcelino, BLGU Buhawen, and Sitio Lumibao was executed.
PRMSU, the co-implementer of the CEST Program, spearheaded the activity.
