To help alleviate malnutrition in the countryside, the Department of Science and Technology III (DOST-III) through its Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program provided complementary foods to 7 barangays in Botolan (Belbel, Cabatuan, Maguisguis, Nacolcol, Poonbato and Villar) and 1 barangay (Maloma) in San Felipe, Zambales. It aims to decrease malnutrition incidence by providing FNRI approved nutripacks and other nutritious foods to identified beneficiaries.

One of the barangay officials from Brgy. Maloma said, "Kami po ay nagpapasamalat sa DOST sa ibinigay na tulong sa amin. At sana po ay hindi ito ang una at huli,” as he appreciated the delivered complementary food feeding supplies to the barangay.

A meal plan, with nine (9) varieties of nutripacks, 2 varieties of Nutri-Gelatin, Nutri-Crunchies and Nutri-Cookies were provided to the 1 to 5-year-old undernourished children for 120 days for them to recover and achieve their proper weight in accordance with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Child Growth Standards.

A total of 328 children will benefit from this project.
