The Department of Science and Technology Region III (DOST-III) fetes Ms. Mary Michelle M. Quiambao, PSTD-Pampanga, with a simple yet meaningful thanksgiving celebration during the flag raising ceremonies held at the DOST regional office for bagging 1st runner honors to the “2013 Outstanding Provincial Science and Technology Director (PSTD) Award” given during the PSTD National Conference in Davao City.
“DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo fondly referred to Michelle as a Hall of Famer having bagged the runner-up place three times since the award was started in 2009”, says DOST-III Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations, Wilfredo F. Sibal, who witnessed awarding rites together with the other PSTDs from the region. ARD Sibal happily informed the DOST-III family during the celebration that, “DOST-III has always been a consistent finalist for the award during the first four staging of the annual search. Our PSTDs’ exemplary performance makes them strong contenders for the commendation, we are never behind and so we take pride in them”.
In her response, Michelle took the opportunity to thank the DOST-III family for nominating her. Sharing her recent experience she said, “I will not be here with the awards without the nomination. It was quite uncomfortable hearing myself tell the audience during the conference what makes me “outstanding” in my three minute video. But what I’ve learned also is that if we have something to boast about, we should, not for the sake of boasting but for the sake of letting the light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in Heaven”.
“If President Aquino says the people are our bosses, at PSTC Pampanga, like what I have been telling my team, we follow what is written in Colossians 3:23, whatever we do, we work at it with all our hearts, as working for the Lord and not for men. This gives us limitless joy in bringing the government programs for the benefit of the people we serve”.
The bouquet in the picture is made from corn husks- a product of the DOST-assisted community-based project in Mexico, Pampanga. Like a number of beneficiaries who took time joining the DOST-III family in this simple celebration, Florencio Bala, the association President, hands the bouquet as a token of appreciation to Ms. Mary Michelle M. Quiambao, the DOST 2013 Outstanding PSTD Award runner up, in Pampanga.
