DOST III SETUP: 2020 Accomplishment Report

“The oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived”

Work comes with challenges but we were able to get through it. Indeed, last year was a test for us, of our faith, strength and resiliency. But we survived and as they say, “the oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived.”

Finding our feet under the “New Normal”

Adapting to the new normal, we persisted and managed to deliver on our commitment to the public. Our frontliners, that is our provincial science and technology staff from the Department of Science and Technology bravely embraced the frightening prospect of field work, with risking infection even. Luckily none was afflicted with the virus because of the strict adherence to health protocols, showing remarkable innovativeness, creativity and resourcefulness by using available technologies from project assessment to implementation, we were able to achieve our targets.

 SETUP Accomplishments

 SETUP with the main goal to help improve the productivity and competitiveness of small entrepreneurs through technological assistance was able to deliver and approve forty-five (45) projects in the region, with equivalent amount of Fifty-Three (Php53M) Million pesos. Additionally, the program was able to create Two Hundred Twenty (220) jobs, and generate sales with estimated amount of Forty-Three Million (Php43M) pesos. It is a remarkable achievement for DOST Region III but one that would not be possible without the tenacity displayed by our partner MSMEs to advance and upgrade their current technologies despite the economic downturn and uncertainty. Indeed, smart entrepreneurs often look for opportunities in every crisis. As for DOST Region III, we commit to help every entrepreneur willing to take a step of faith.

Year 2020 is a tough year but it proved that nothing can stop DOST III’s passion, commitment and drive to excellence in serving the people!
